Bobby Joe Murray

Bobby Joe Murray, 68, of Anna, died with his family at his side at 5:37 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born on Oct. 7, 1947, in Cobden, the son of William and Bertie Geraldine Bennett Murray.

He married Edwina Landers on Jan. 28, 1992.

He is survived y his wife, Edwina Murray of Anna; a son, Tommy (Angie) Smith of Jonesboro; two daughters, Cindy (Tim) Chamness of Anna and Eileen (Wes) Wilkins of Cobden; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Wilkins, Taylor (Bill) Miller, Josie Chamness, Katelynn Chamness, Jenna Chamness, Meghan Smith and Marlee Smith; one great-grandchild, Jalynn Chamness-Moss; three brothers, Billy (Nadine) Murray of Alto Pass, Donnie (Linda) Murray of Anna and Frankie (Janice) Murray of Anna; three sisters, Bertie Green of Alabama, Dorothy Burgess and Betty Stegle, both of Anna; three sisters-in-law, Carolyn Murray, Marion Murray and Patsy Murray; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Laverne Highland; four brothers, Robert Murray, Melvin Murray, Jimmy Murray and Charlie Murray; and one sister-in-law, Sue Murray.

He was a member of the Immanuel Praise and Worship Center in Cobden. He was a truck driver for 34 years, an avid Cub’s Baseball Fan, and enjoyed spending time mowing the lawn.

Funeral services for Mr. Murray were at 1 p.m. Monday, June 27, at Immanuel Praise and Worship Center in Cobden, with the Rev. Carl Dillow officiating. Interment will be in the Alto Pass Cemetery at a later date.
