Bobby Dean ‘Bob’ Williams
Bobby Dean “Bob” Williams, 77, of Jonesboro, died at 12:20 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, at the Jonesboro Rehab and Healthcare Center.
He was born on Sept. 1, 1938, in Cobden. He was the son of Lowell E. and Ruby York Williams.
He married Margaret Anderson on Feb. 28, 1958, in Anna.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Williams of Jonesboro; daughters Susan Poznan of Algonquin, Sarah E. (Larry) Gibbs of Jonesboro and Charlotte K. (Eric) Massey of Anna; seven grandchildren, Travis N. Sims, Adam M. Poznan, Derek D. Massey, Zachary N. Massey, Nickie N. Gibbs, Stephanie A. Gibbs and Larry G. Gibbs Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Madalyn N. Moss, Bentley E. Tollison and Abby E. Pike; one niece, Tracey Kreipe of Carlinville; one nephew, Gary E. Aldridge; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Patricia Aldridge; one brother, Claude L. Williams; and one niece, Lee Ann Aldridge.
He was a member of the Anna First Baptist Church for many years. He served in both the U.S. Army and Navy. He retired after serving 27 years.
He later worked for 10 years as an officer for the Jonesboro Police Department. He was an avid Cubs baseball fan and golfer. He was a member of the Union County Country Club and Friends of Jonesboro Public Library.
Funeral services for Mr. Williams were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with the Rev. Paul Sadler officiating. Interment was in the Cobden Cemetery.
Graveside military rites were conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Navy funeral honor detail.
