Bobbie D. ‘Bob’ Fisher

Bobbie D. “Bob” Fisher, 73, of rural Dongola, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at 5:19 p.m. at his home.

He was born on Sept. 18, 1943, in Dongola. He was the youngest child born to William and Verna Sivia Fisher.

He married Jackie A. McKenzie on Dec. 1, 1963, at the Oak Grove Baptist Church. She survives.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Fisher is survived by his daughter, Amy (her husband Eric) Plott of Anna; a sister, Betty McIntire of Dongola; a brother-in-law, Fred Douglas of Dongola and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Pauline, Donna, Billie and Virginia.

He was a 1962 graduate of the Dongola High School.

He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. He served from 1966 until he was honorably discharged in 1968.

He had worked for Smoot Oil Company. In April 1979, he began working for the Southern Illinois Electric Co-op. He worked there for 27 years and retired as foreman in 2006.

He had attended the Christian Chapel Church of Christ. He enjoyed watching basketball and baseball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved mowing his yard on his John Deere mower.

A graveside service honoring the life of Mr. Fisher was conducted Sunday, April 2, at 2 p.m. at the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Dare Aden officiated.
