Bob Shepard

Bob Shepard, 83, of Cobden, died at 7:03 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

Bobby Gene Shepard was  born on Jan. 5, 1933, in Anna, the son of Frank and Stella Schlenker Shepard.

He married Carol Treece on Dec. 25, 1953, and they enjoyed nearly 63 years of marriage.

He served his country in the U.S. Army overseas during the Korean War. He worked as an electrician his entire life, retiring from Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna in 1996. He loved to play golf and after his retirement he recorded two holes-in-one at the Union County Country Club. He also raised Tennessee Walking Horses and showed them for many years. He was a member of the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church and IBEW.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Shepard; sons Rob (Kelly) Shepard, Jim (Diane) Shepard and John Shepard; grandchildren, Kelsey (Seth) Stringer and Gary Shepard; great-grand-child Harper Stringer; brother Ronald (Della) Shepard; sister Joyce (Ralph) Owens; sister-in-law, Donna Daisy; nieces, nephews and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Mr. Shepard were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with the Rev. Jerry Brundle officiating. Interment was in the Anna City Cemetery.
