Billie Max Lentz

Billie Max Lentz, 85, of Dongola, died Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at 11:39 p.m. at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born on Sept. 2, 1935, in Union County, the son of Loren and Geneva Mathis Lentz. 

He married Shirley Jean Keller on Jan. 22, 1955. She preceded him in death on April 28, 2008. 

Mr. Lentz retired from Bunny Bread after working as a truck driver for over 30 years. After retiring, he went to work for lifelong family friends at Osman Farms, which he really enjoyed. 

He was a member of the Vienna Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing and mowing his yard, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his two daughters, Pam Lentz of Dongola and Tanna (Ken) Roberts of Rolla, Mo.; two grandchildren, Micala (Matt) Dawkins of Knappe, Ore., and Ian (Ashley) Barnes of Warrensburg, Mo.; a great-grandson, whom he was especially proud of, Max Avery Dawkins; a special friend, Mary Helton of Paducah; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 53 years, Shirley Lentz; and two sisters, Vida Ann Schluter and Carolyn Sue Wynn.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola, with Phil Jones officiating. Burial followed in Christian Chapel Cemetery. 

Memorials can be made to Christian Chapel Cemetery.

Crain Funeral Home in Dongola was in charge of arrangements.
