Betty Marie George

Betty Marie George, 75, of Anna, died Friday, March 18, 2022, at her home. 

She was born on Jan. 22, 1947, in Carbondale, the daughter of Lawrence Calvin and Mildred Marie Smith Blessing. 

She is survived by her mother, Mildred Blessing of Cobden; a son, Larry (Kelle) George of Dongola; a daughter, Denise Reynolds of Anna; five grandchildren, Nick Reynolds, Jerald Reynolds, Kaelyn George, Beau Nobles and Hunter Nobles; one great-grandchild on the way; a sister, Peggy (Allen) Crowell of Cobden; a brother, Clarence Blessing of Marion; three nephews, Collin Crowell, Matt Blessing and Josh Blessing; a niece, Christina (Trouble) Pryor; other relatives and many friends. She had a beloved dog, Odie.

She was preceded in death by her father; a son, Denny Nobles; and a son-in-law, Steve Reynolds.

She was a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church. She owned and operated Betty’s Hair Fashion for many years. For the last 25 years she worked at the VFW’s Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of Anna. She loved working outdoors. She was a distributor for Paparazzi Jewelry. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden, with LaRue Parr officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery in Makanda.
