Betty L. Trexler Baker

Betty L. Trexler Baker, 94, of Goreville, and formerly of Ullin, died Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Metropolis Rehab and Care.

She was born on Aug. 10, 1929, in Ullin, the daughter of George Dewey and Ella Marie Julen Trexler.  

She married James Robert “Bob” Baker on Nov. 8, 1947. He preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 1996.

Mrs. Baker worked for 34 years at the Anna State Hospital as a nurse’s aide.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ullin.

Survivors include her sons, Wes (Rhonda) Baker and David Baker; three grandchildren, Tim (Teresa) Baker, Taylor Baker and Kayla (Adam) Gurley; three great-grandchildren, Kennedy Baker, Trace Gurley and Hunter Gurley; brothers Sid Trexler, Gene (Doris) Trexler and Mac (Nettie) Trexler; and sisters-in-law Jane Trexler and Sue Trexler.

Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Edith (Calvin) Dillman; brothers Charlie Trexler, Jessie Trexler, Sam (Omega) Trexler and Terry Trexler; and sister-in-law Evelyn Trexler.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin, with the Rev. Clint Nale and the Rev. Enloe Clemons officiating.  Burial will follow at the Ullin Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, March 15, at the funeral home.
