Betty Edwards

Betty L. Edwards, 87, of Dallas, Texas, and formerly of Peoria, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017.

She was born to Russell and Oma Bryant on Jan. 8, 1930, in Flat Rock.

She is survived by her husband, John D. Edwards of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Nancy (Jim) Sherer; grandchildren Hayley and Sean of Carrollton, Texas; granddaughter Carmen (Gilli) Coren and great-granddaughters Nola and Nova of Reseda, Calif.; grandson Ben Clemons of Chicago; grandson Zack (Kayla) Clemons and great-granddaughters Sydnie and Addy of Oshkosh, Wis.; a sister, Violet Davis of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Robert (Joann) Bryant of Fairfield, Mont.; and her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Karla Clemons.

She was an avid reader, so the family asks that donations of books or money be made to local schools or libraries in her name.

A memorial service will be held in April.
