Bessie Lee Crane Speakman

Bessie Lee Crane Speakman, 95, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and formerly of Mounds, died Saturday, July 31, 2021, at her residence.  

She was a native of the Brace Community, retired from Senior Volunteer Program, a former Rosie the Riveter and a member of Brace Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burl Watson and Effie Lee Ingram Crane; her husband, Francis Marion Speakman; two sisters, Pauline Richards and Effie Higdon; and one brother, Alton Crane.

She is survived by two daughters, Vanessa Gaye Speakman Dassing of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Fran Spence of Dyersburg, Tenn.; six grandchildren,15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at Neal Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. Carlos Casteel and Lanier Nail officiated.  

Interment followed in John Lay Cemetery in Ethridge, Tenn.

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
