Arthur ‘Stretch’ Rodgers
Arthur “Stretch” Rodgers, 73, of Olive Branch, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021, at his home.
He was born on Sept. 9, 1947, in Alexander County, the son of Lawrence Freeman and Ola Mae Greer Rodgers.
He married Shirley Sissom on June 19, 1998.
Mr. Rodgers was a retired truck driver and an avid hunter. He loved spending time with, and joking with, his family.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Rodgers; children Arthur Rodgers Jr., Mike Gentry, Terry Arnold Jr., Adam (Jennifer) Arnold and Melissa Arnold; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Frieda Sheible, Joyce Rearden, JoAnn (Tony) Sissom and Lisa Rodgers; brothers Henry (Tina) Rodgers, Dewey (Sandy) Rodgers, Gary (Joyce) Rodgers, Louis (Phyllis) Rodgers, Mickey Rodgers, Ronnie Rodgers, Steve (Lisa) Essex and Junior Rodgers; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Ola Mae and Clarence Essex; his father and stepmother, Freeman and Nellie Rodgers; brothers Harley Rodgers, Lawrence Rodgers and Donnie Essex; and a sister, Susan Essex.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, with Bobby White reading the eulogy. Interment followed in Olive Branch Cemetery.
