Anita Davis

Anita Davis, 88, of Anna, died Monday, March 8, 2021, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born on Oct. 14, 1932, the daughter of Henry Doyle and Eva Myrtle Hinkle Hileman. 

She married the love of her life, Charles F. “Chuck” Davis, on Sept. 2, 1951, in Anna. He preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1991.

She loved going out to eat and spending time with her friends. She attended Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in Anna. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW’s Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455.  She worked for many years at G.C. Murphy in downtown Anna, then she worked at Anna City Hall until she retired.   

She is survived by her godchildren, Michelle (Ronnie) Barnhart and Natalie (David) Stanley; a special niece, who was like a daughter to her, Teresa (Todd) Vincent of Anna; brothers Robert (Doris) Hileman of Anna and Terry (Mary Beth) Hileman of Jonesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. “Chuck” Davis; her parents; a sister, Shirley M. Mueller; and brother, Henry L. Hileman.

Graveside funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, March 15, at the Anna City Cemetery, with Pastor Mark Hasty officiating. Interment immediately followed the service.
