Waterfowl hunt helps to support Baptist Children's Home and Family Services

Hunters from across Southern Illinois participated in an annual waterfowl hunt fund-raiser for Illinois families served by the Baptist Children’s Home and Family Services, BCHFS.

The hunt was sponsored by Banterra Bank and Master’s Choice Inc. and was hosted by Grassy Lake Hunt Club near Ware.

Unusually warm weather kept the waterfowl from flying and limited the number of birds which were shot.

Organizers noted, however, that the weather and limited harvest didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the hunters who supported the work of BCHFS.

BCHFS shared in a news release it was grateful for those who supported the hunt, which raised $4,600.

Appreciation also was voiced to Collin Cain of Grassy Lake Hunt Club, who has hosted the event since it began in 2002.Over the years, the hunt has raised a total of $96,031.

BCHFS is a Carmi-based agency with service locations throughout the state that specialize in providing Christ-centered services to protect, heal and restore children and families in crisis.

BCHFS voiced appreciation to Collin Cain and his staff at the Grassy Lake Hunt Club for hosting another successful event.

BCHFS also voiced appreciation to Banterra Bank and Master’s Choice Inc.; to the hunters who participated in the event; and the area churches which provided a noon meal for the hunters, including Harvest Church of Anna, Anna First Baptist Church, Dongola First Baptist Church, Cobden First Baptist Church and Big Creek Baptist Church.
