In recognition of her dedicated and effective advocacy for the people of Illinois, Senate Republican Leader Bill Brady appointed State Sen. Jil Walker Tracy, R-Quincy, to Senate Leadership as the new Minority Whip.

Tracy has worked to take a lead on crucial issues impacting the state, including agricultural industry improvements, school funding reform, veterans’ issues, legislative ethics, and the reporting of sexual assault and harassment.

She has also been a key advocate for the patient care and safety of the residents of Quincy Veterans’ Home.

She partnered with state and local government officials and agencies to eradicate the traces of Legionnaires’ disease and helped to secure the vital capital funding to renovate the campus as soon as possible with limited disturbance to its residents.

“Senator Tracy is a seasoned and dedicated lawmaker who has shown tremendous leadership in advocating for the 47th District and has been a powerful voice in the Senate speaking on complex state issues,” Brady said in a news release.

“We are grateful to have her as our new Senate Minority Whip.”

“Thank you to Leader Brady for the honor of appointing me as the Senate Minority Whip,” said Tracy.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with the Senate Leadership Team to advance impactful legislation to improve the lives of Illinois residents and push for much-needed budgetary and structural reforms to fix our state government’s inefficiencies.”

Tracy, the former Jil Walker is a 1974 graduate of Anna-Jonesboro Community High School and the daughter of Betty Odum of Anna.
