Union County Hospital receives four-star rating

Union County Hospital in Anna has received a four-star rating for quality and safety from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, CMS.  

Union County Hospital is among the 29.2 percent of hospitals nationwide which earned a four-star rating.   

CMS recently released overall hospital quality “star ratings” on its Hospital Compare website to provide consumers with more transparency regarding the quality, safety and service of the majority of hospitals in the United States.

Hospitals received ratings of one to five stars based on their performance across seven measurements: 

Mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, effectiveness of care, timeliness of care and efficient use of medical imaging.

“We are proud of our rigorous approach to quality, safety and service,” Union County Hospital CEO Jim Farris said in a news release. 

“Our dedicated clinical and support staff remain mission-focused on providing patient-centered care with excellence. 

“Clinical care and service is a journey and we embrace transparency as we continue to fulfill our performance improvement goals.” 

The four-star rating comes on the heels of other recent accolades for Union County Hospital.  

In April 2018, the hospital received The Joint Commission’s Laboratory Accreditation.  

In September 2018, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency accredited UCH’s Mammography Program.  

The American College of Radiology accredited Union County Hospital‘s mammography program in October 2018.  

The American College of Cardiology accredited Union County Hospital as a chest pain center in January 2017.  

In March of that year, Union County Hospital received the Joint Commission’s hospital accreditation, as well as the commission’s laboratory accreditation.  

The Illinois Department of Public Health certified Union County Hospital as an acute stroke ready hospital in May 2017.
