Sierra Club group plans activities
The Shawnee Group of the Sierra Club has scheduled three events during January and February.
The schedule of events includes:
Sunday, Jan. 20. 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Invasive plant pull. Trillium Trail/Fern Rocks Nature Preserve, Giant City State Park near Makanda.
Saturday, Feb. 16. 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Invasive plant pull. Trillium Trail/Fern Rocks Nature Preserve, Giant City State Park near Makanda.
Those who want to help with either of the plant pulls are asked to meet at the visitors center at the park.

Sunday, Feb. 24. Jackson Hollow Natural Area Hike. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Murdale shopping center in Carbondale.
The hike will be 3 miles long and will be of moderate difficulty. The club noted that those who want to go on the hike must call Kevin Rohling at 618-694-8150 ahead of time.
