Saluki Comic Con one of featured events slated at SIU Family Weekend

Saluki Comic Con, campus tours, movies indoors and out, a craft sale, Greek Sing, recreational activities, and of course, tailgating, football and much more are planned on the Southern Illinois University Carbondale campus during Family Weekend, Sept. 28-30.

The three-day celebration will “Celebrate Our Incredible Saluki Family” with a wide range of activities. Most events are free.

Some of the highlights of the weekend include:

A free outdoor showing of “Incredibles 2” at Saluki Stadium at 7 p.m. Friday and indoors in the SIU Student Center Auditorium at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Saluki Family Tailgate, 3-5:45 p.m. on Saturday in Saluki Row near the stadium. Families are welcome to enjoy a complimentary meal. A free Kid Zone will be located nearby.

Football, 6 p.m. Saturday. The Salukis take on the South Dakota Coyotes at Saluki Stadium.

The Saluki Comic Con, in its second year, runs Sept. 29-30.

The event takes place in the SIU Student Center ballrooms and will feature vendors, comic artists, a costume competition with cash prizes and trophies, a game room for board and video gamers, guests and a variety of competitions and informational/educational panels.
