River to River yard sale to debut in region

Bargain hunters may want to make a note of an event which is scheduled to make its debut in the region in early August.

The first River to River yard sale is scheduled for Aug. 4-6 in Southern Illinois.

Organizers said the yard sale's route will follow from Illinois Route 146, from East Cape Girardeau to Golconda.

Residents along the route are being encouraged to clean out attics, basements, closets and storage sheds and offer items they would like to sell.

Community-wide yard sales are planned along the route in East Cape Girardeau, McClure, Ware, Jonesboro, Anna and Golconda.

The idea for the yard sale came from Julie Ames and her sister Sabra Smith while they were visiting the 100 mile yard sale in Missouri.

There is no cost to attend or hold a yard sale. Organizers suggest shoppers bring cash because many yard sales do not accept personal checks, debit or credit cards.

For more information on where to set up, or general questions, call Ames at 618-697-2435 or email jjames101202@hotmail.com.
