Pumpkin Town to welcome visitors

The Pumpkin People are coming to visit Clyde L. Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna during October.

Fifteen businesses and organizations have committed to setting up displays, which will be available for viewing Oct. 5-15.

The trail of pumpkin people will depict various scenes highlighting Illinois’ Bicentennial, which is being commemorated during 2018.

Approximately 75 pumpkins from St. Mary’s pumpkin patch, 75 bales of straw and 45 mums from the Choate Center greenhouse are going into the creation of Pumpkin Town.

Those involved with creating Pumpkin Town say that it seems the Pumpkin People cast a spell and the Choate Center campus dons a new look.

They add that the smiles and laughter of children and adults alike shower the campus with joy as they explore the displays and make pumpkin people friends.

A continuous line of cars parade through the grounds, bringing thousands of visitors to witness the creativity and ingenuity of the displays.

Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center is located at 1000 N. Main St. in Anna.

Businesses and organizations which were planning to participate include:

Wal-Mart of Anna. Choate Rehab and staff. RAVE Inc. Anna-Jonesboro Community High School Art Club.

Casey’s General Store of Anna/Jonesboro. Jonesboro Rehab & Health Care. Tri-County School. Tim McGrath, Edward Jones. Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission. JR Centre.
