Mastering Marketplace workshops scheduled
Mastering the Marketplace 101, 102 and 103 workshops are scheduled June 21-23 at the Johnson County University of Illinois Extension office at 208 E. Main St. in Vienna.
Mastering the Marketplace is a series of free workshops provided at no cost by the University of Illinois Extension and College of Business through the Illinois Marketplace & Maker Program, IMMLP.
The three-hour sessions will teach participants to become more confident consumers, more employable customer service workers and even potential business owners.
The program uses the “know-why” or an understanding of marketplaces as a basis for the know-how of being an informed buyer or seller.
The sessions use a variety of methods such as picture sorting, simulated shopping, and role plays.
The course is limited to 10 participants 16 years of age and older.
Sessions will start at 9 a.m. and conclude at 12 p.m. each day.
The schedule includes:
Tuesday, June 21, 101: Getting the Most of Your Money. Learn to think like a business owner and save money while developing basic consumer literacy skills.
Wednesday, June 22, 102: Customer Service & Sustainability. Building on consumer literacy skills taught in the first workshop, you will learn to save more money at home while developing business-savvy retailing skills that will enhance your potential for employment at a customer service job.
