Local business supports Girl Scout troop's project

A local business is helping to support a Union County Girl Scout troop’s efforts to help others.

Girl Scout Troop No. 8597 is working to help provide Kindness Kits for the homeless.

The troop is doing the project as a way to earn a Girl Scout Silver Award.

Each kit will contain personal hygiene products, a wash cloth, socks, canned meat, snacks, a bottle of water and a personal note from a Girl Scout.

Jus10’s Frozen Yogurt & Dessert Shoppe in downtown Anna is lending its support to the project.

Twenty percent of sales proceeds and all of the donations to a tip jar at the shop will help to support the Girl Scout troop’s project.

Those who bring in an item to donate to the Kindness Kits will receive a buy one get one free coupon for a future visit.

Donations of the following items are being welcomed:

Toothbrushes. Toothpaste. Bottled water. Fruit snacks. Dried fruit. Toiletry items. Gallon Ziploc bags. Socks. Feminine hygiene items. Canned meat/tuna.

Community Clean-Up Planned

The troop also is planning a community clean-up day on March 23. Youth groups are invited to participate in the clean-up day.
