Little Miss/Junior Miss Union County Fair contestants sought

The Union County Fair queen pageant is in search of contestants for the 2016 pageant.

The pageant is set for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at the fairgrounds (the Anna City Park).

Little Miss/Junior Miss: Little Miss contestants must be 10-12 years of age, and Junior Miss contestants must be 13-15 years of age by Aug. 21, 2016. 

Contestants must be a resident of Union County and attend a Union County School.

 If contestants attend a private school outside of Union County, they must provide proof of registration with their application.

Informational Meeting: An informational meeting is planned at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, at the VFW post in Anna for all Little Miss and Junior Miss contestants and parents. Applications can be picked up at that time.

Applications are available now from superintendent Mike Meisenheimer at his office at Country Financial Insurance in Jonesboro, or Janice Osman can be texted at 618-833-7777 to request an application, or interested persons can go to and go to the Little Miss and Junior Miss Union County Fair tab to download the application from there. 

A schedule of practice days and times are with the pageant application.

The deadline to enter the pageant is Aug. 8. No late entries will be accepted after Aug. 8.

There will be a meeting on Monday, Aug. 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Union County Fair Board office at the Anna City Park in Anna for Little Miss and Junior Miss contestants. 

Applications and entry fees can be turned in at the meeting. 

Also, come “picture ready”: a group photo will be taken for local papers. 

Tiffany Dillow Photography will also be taking head shots of any contestant who wants one. There will be a $15 fee, payable to Tiffany Dillow that day. Contestants getting a head shot will receive a digital copy of their photograph.
