A-J teacher receives Touchstone Grant
Anna-Jonesboro Community High School teacher Amy Penninger is one of this year’s seven recipients of a Southern Illinois Electric Cooperative’s, SIEC, Touchstone Energy Classroom Empowerment Grant for $500.
Penninger was awarded the grant for a project which involves the development of a digital archive by her students.
The digital archive will include school historical records, including information about endowments, old yearbooks and photographs.
Through a digital archive, the school’s historical records can be made available online for those who might want to have access to the information.
A digital archive will make information available which otherwise might be sitting in boxes in storage.
Penninger has access to resources which were kept by former school librarians.
She also has access to materials which are available through contacts with a local historical society, which has provided old photographs and other documents.
Penninger and her students say they are excited to be working on a project which is made possible, in part, with the grant.
This is the third year in a row that an A-JCHS faculty member has been awarded an SIEC Touchstone Energy Classroom Empowerment Grant.
