ISP reports fatal rollover car crash

Illinois State Police District 22 in Ullin released information, Monday, today, June 26, about a fatal rollover car crash that occured on Illinois Route 127 north of Trinity Road near Sandusky in Alexander County at 7:09 a.m. Monday. 

Valencia Holloway, 19, of Tamms, was identified as the driver. An infant passenger, also of Tamms, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Alexander County coroner.

State police reported that the driver was not using a seatbelt, and that a child safety seat was not used.

ISP stated in a press release that Holloway was traveling southbound on Illinois Route 127 north of Trinity Road. 

State police reported that an eyewitness indicated Holloway's vehicle left the roadway to the right, struck a culvert and went airborne. The vehicle rolled, ejecting the driver and the infant passenger. Holloway was transported by emergency medical services with life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
