Input into Shawnee College presidential search welcomed

The committee will utilize the community input to help enhance the search efforts for the college’s next president.

Shawnee Community College has launched an online forum that is designed to give community members, students, faculty and staff with an opportunity to provide input and contribute to the process of the college’s presidential search. 

The search committee is comprised of members of the board, faculty, staff, area school district superintendents and community members from each county within the region.

The committee will utilize the community input to help enhance the search efforts for the college’s next president. 

In addition to the online forum, the committee has also recently released a tentative timeline for the search process that can be viewed on the college website located at https://shawneecc.edu/presidential-search.  

The timeline posted on the college’s website features a Feb. 29, 2020, date for applications and credentials to be received by the college.

Other dates on the timeline follow:

March 1: Search committee starts making final study of credentials.

March 21: Search committee finishes making final study of credentials.

March 23: Search committee forwards five unranked candidates for reference checks to Dr. Davis, board consultant.

March 30: Reference checks conducted for the five finalists.

April 6: Board ratifies finalist list.

April 7: Finalists are announced by the board.

April 13: On-campus interviews begin.

April 24: On-campus interviews end.

May 4: Board selects the next president.

May 5: Announcement issued concerning selected candidate.

Speaking on behalf of the search committee, college board member and Shawnee Community College graduate Steve Heisner stated: 

“The committee wants to hear from all of our local stakeholders. We want to know what type of leader the community believes is right for our institution, and we are encouraging the community to take part in the process by communicating their thoughts to us through the use of the online forum.”
