HCE presents grant funding to Cairo Women’s Shelter

June Badgley, the chairperson of the Pulaski-Alexander Illinois Association for Home and Community Education, HCE, recently applied for a grant to benefit the Cairo Women’s Shelter.  

As a result, Margaret Ann Grace, Pulaski-Alexander IAHCE international chairperson, received notice from Patricia Weitzmann, state international chairperson, that the Cairo Women’s Shelter was one of five agencies throughout the State of Illinois to be awarded a $200 check to both reward their efforts and also to further their aims of providing shelter and services for people suffering from domestic abuse. 

Both the Pulaski Unit and the Shawnee Unit of HCE support the Cairo Women’s Center throughout the year through various projects, including donating personal items and clothing for children, as well as adults. Anyone who may want more information about how to support the shelter can call  618-734-4357.
