Filing set for county school board elections

The 2019 school board of educations elections for Union County are scheduled for April 2, 2019. 

The filing period for school board elections will run from Dec. 10 to Dec. 17.

Nominating petitions can be received and filed at the Union County clerk’s office in Jonesboro.

School board positions are up for election in each of the seven Union County public school districts. 

The following are the school board members whose terms are expiring in each district:

Anna-Jonesboro Community High School District No. 81: Board president John Hughey, vice president Lisa Boget, and board members Dee Blakely and Brian Reach. Board member Doug Edwards was appointed, and so his two-year term will also be on the ballot. 

Anna School District No. 37: Board president Grant Capel and board members Craig Dillman, Dave Sullivan and Tina Waller.

Cobden School District  No. 17: Vice president Lisa Tomazzoli and board members Gerald Britt and Tracie Moore.

Jonesboro School District No. 43: Board president Angela Bowen, board secretary R.W. McAlister and board member Jason Hill.  Board member Casey Johnson was appointed, so his two-year term will also be on the ballot.

Lick Creek School District No. 16: Board president Blayne Holshouser, vice president Allen Plott, and board members Aaron Stover and Ronnie Thorn. 

Shawnee School District  No. 84: Vice president Trenton Colyer, board secretary Angie McMahan, and board members Tyler Davis and Jennifer Webb. Since Colyer, Davis and Webb were appointed in 2017, their seats will be included on the ballot as well. 

Dongola School District No. 66: Board members Philip Miller, Mark Eddleman, Wayne Brown and Stephanie Theis.
