CEO Holiday Hoops tournaments slated

The Union County CEO class of 2020 is planning and hosting Holiday Hoops on Sunday, Dec.15.

Holiday Hoops is scheduled to start with an afternoon of 3 on 3 basketball tournaments in the Anna-Jonesboro Community High School gymnasium.

The event will continue with a variety of activities and games for all ages and will end with county-wide police versus firefighters’ competition.

The 3 on 3 tournaments will be in two age groups: adult and high school, and 5th through 8th grade, which will start at noon.

Teams can be all male, all female or mixed. High school/adult teams are $25 per player, up to four per team.

Fifth through 8th grade teams are $15 per player, up to four, and one adult must be present for the team.

Participants need to register on the Union County CEO Facebook page or by contacting Kathy Bryan at Kiki’s CoffeeHouse or by phone 618-559-9138.

The final, main event will begin at 7 p.m. with a local police versus fire department basketball competition, starring police and firefighters from all over Union County.

The cost for spectators will be $5 adults, $3 for 5-12 year olds, with 4 and under free for the full day or to come and go.

In the late afternoon, games and activities will be available for kids with visits from Santa and the Grinch.

Then guests will have the opportunity to enjoy Jennifer Cleghorn’s Famous Italian Beef and other treats while they cheer on their favorite players.

The profits from this event will be loaned to the CEO students for their personal businesses, and support CEO student activities, with a significant portion returned to the community during their “give back” at the end of the year.
