Bald Knob sunrise service set

For the 83rd year, people plan to gather atop Bald Knob Mountain near Alto Pass for an Easter sunrise service.

The service is set for Sunday morning, April 21, at the landmark Cross of Peace on Bald Knob Mountain.

Organizers noted that the welcome center at the cross is scheduled to open at 5:15 a.m. Coffee and donuts will be served.

The sunrise service is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. Sunrise will be at approximately 6:14 a.m.

Angela Baughman of Carbondale is scheduled to deliver the message at the sunrise service. She also will give the opening and closing prayers. Baughman is the founder of Steady-On Ministries.

The soloist will be Cassie Sharp, who is the founder of the C-Sharp Project.

Keona Johnson, a children’s ministry leader in Southern Illinois, is scheduled to offer the scripture readings.

Shuttle Service Planned

A shuttle service will be available for those who want to attend the service.

The shuttle service is scheduled to leave at 5:15 a.m. from Walker Funeral Home, which is located at 425 Main St. in Alto Pass.

The cost for the shuttle ride will be $5 per person. Riders will pay as they board the shuttle.

Advance reservations for the shuttle are recommended. Reservations are available by calling 618-713-8516 or by emailing info@baldknobcross.com

Parking also will be available at the Cross of Peace.

Those who plan to attend are asked to bring blankets or lawn chairs.
