Art, drama camps set at arts center

The upcoming schedule at the Shawnee Hills Arts Council’s Anna Arts Center includes a kids art camp, a drama camp and a kids painting party.

The kids art camp and the drama camp both are planned July 24-28. Hours for both camps are from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.

Kids Art Camp: At the kids art camp, those who attend will learn about Picasso, van Gogh and Matisse. Journaling, drawing and painting also are planned.

The instructor is scheduled to be Bonni Little, who is an artist and photographer.

Drama Camp: No prior experience is needed to attend the drama camp.

Students will learn about the acting process, set design and lights/sounds.

Instructors are scheduled to be Pete Housman and Carla Anderson.

Campers can attend a second week (planned through Aug. 4) to refine their skills, at no extra cost.

Costs: Costs for both camps are $50 for the week; three children for $120; or, attend on days you can for $10 each day.

Receptions Planned: Receptions for the kids art and drama camps are planned from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on July 28.  

Kids art camp participants will host an exhibit of their work. Drama camp participants will perform what they have learned.

Kids Painting Party: Those who want to attend can pick the date, the theme and bring the refreshments.

The arts center will supply the canvases, paint, an instructor and all of the supplies which are needed.

Costs are $10 per child, with a minimum of five children, and a $20 fee for the room. The room can be used for as long as someone wants to host a party.
