Anna police officer commended for life-saving actions

Because of the quick response by Officer Tripp, and his ability to react during a stressful situation, a man’s life was saved”

The life-saving actions of an Anna Police Department officer have been recognized.

Anna Police Chief Bryan Watkins presented Officer Adam Tripp with a letter of commendation last week.

The letter of commendation was presented during a regular meeting of the Anna City Council. The meeting was Tuesday evening, Nov. 5, at Anna City Hall.

During the meeting, Watkins read the letter of commendation which honored Tripp, who has been a full-time Anna Police Department officer since June 2019.

Recognition of Tripp was Watkins’ first official act as Anna’s new chief of police.

Watkins had been serving as interim police chief. He was formally appointed as police chief during the Nov. 5 Anna City Council meeting.

Tripp was recognized for actions he took while on duty as a City of Anna police officer on the night of Friday, Oct. 18. Tripp had been dispatched to a residence on Williams Street in Anna regarding an incident involving a male subject.

In the letter, Watkins recalled how Tripp, along with other local law enforcement personnel, took action which saved the life of the man at the residence. Personnel from the Jonesboro Police Department and the Union County Sheriff’s Office also had responded to the scene.

“Because of the quick response by Officer Tripp, and his ability to react during a stressful situation, a man’s life was saved,” Watkins wrote in the letter of commendation.

“This is another example which shows that the City of Anna Police Officers are here to serve in whatever capacity, to ensure the ultimate welfare of the citizens and visitors of our great community,” the letter concluded.
