Anna City pool hosts successful free swim day

The City of Anna and Anna-Jonesboro National Bank teamed up to present a successful free swim day last Saturday. The event was held at the Anna City Pool. Organizers said that 250 people turned out for the special event, which was held on a warm and sunny summer afternoon. Mystify Music presented music during the day. Whiffle Boys pizza was for sale in the concession stand. Free bottled water was given away.

Vehicles from the Anna Fire Department and the Anna Police Department were on display. Visitors could get an up-close look at fire trucks and squad cars. Emergency services personnel also were on hand to greet visitors.

In conjunction with Saturday’s event, the City of Anna and A-J National Bank collected school supplies. The supplies will go to students and families in the Shawnee School District who have been impacted by the 2019 flood. School supplies can still be dropped off until Aug. 7 at Anna City Hill and at the bank’s four locations. A-J National Bank will match school supply donations up to $400. Goosehead Insurance will match donations up to $100.
