Letters: Many helped with event

To the editor,

I would like to express my gratitude for a successful event during the recent Christmas in the Village in Cobden.

The third Christmas in Cobden 5K Run/Walk fielded 27 participants on a beautiful Dec. 1 this year. I wanted to take some time to thank all those who made the event possible. The race this year raised money for the American Cancer Society.

Through the generosity of our local sponsors, anthill gallery and vintage curiosities, Second Look Home Inspection, Yellowmoon Café, Southpass Beads, Winetrailcabins LLC, Flamm Heating and Cooling, Whipple Creek Guitars, E.T. Simonds Construction, Taqueria Pequena, Lick Creek Beef, Village Art and Crafts, Phases Salon and La Mexican Grocery, all race entry fees will be donated to the Marion office for the American Cancer Society.

Together our participants and sponsors raised $740 during a fun filled day. Thank you to all our sponsors who provided great gift certificates for the participants.

A special thank you goes out to the Sports Massage Therapy students from Shawnee Community College who provided massage therapy to participants after the race.

Thank you also to Les Sheets and friends for their invaluable help timing and running the event. Thank you to Hannah Pineau whose assistance made day of race entries go so smoothly.

And thanks to Ray and Joseph Hogan who insured the safety of the participants on the course. And of course thank you to all the racers. Without you this would not be possible.
