Lady Bulldogs second at state

<p class="p1">The Jonesboro School Lady Bulldogs basketball team fell 59-49 to Goreville in the Class M state tournament championship game which was played Friday, Jan. 29, at Rend Lake College at Ina.</p><p class="p1">The Lady Bulldogs finished the season with a 23-2 overall record, were the Southern Illini Conference champions and took second in the SIJHSAA Class M state tournament.</p><p class="p1">As junior varsity players during the 2014-15 season, these girls were undefeated with a record of 15-0. </p><p class="p1">That team finished in fourth place last year at the state tournament and finished two seasons with a combined record of 38-2 overall.</p><p class="p1">The team will lose three 8th grade players, who will be moving on to the high school next year.</p><p class="p1">The Jonesboro girls’ basketball team was recognized during halftime at an Anna-Jonesboro Community High School boys’ basketball home game Saturday, Jan. 30.</p><p class="p1">The Lady Bulldog basketball players, parents and coaches Beth Miller and Julia Ellis voiced their appreciation “to all area businesses and members of the Anna-Jonesboro Community for all their support and encouragement throughout the season.</p><p class="p1">“It is very nice to see the community come together and support these young athletes in their accomplishments. We are looking forward to another awesome year next year.”</p>
