Household hazardous waste collection planned

The Village of Cobden and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, IEPA, are joining to present a household hazardous waste collection event.

The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at the Cobden Community Park in Cobden.

The Village of Cobden and the IEPA note that the event will offer area residents an opportunity to dispose of household hazardous waste items in a safe, environmentally friendly manner.

Items can be collected and brought to the Locust Street parking area at the Cobden Community Park during the hours scheduled for the June 1 event.

Organizers note that vehicles will be unloaded: those who bring items won’t even have to get out of their car or truck.

Acceptable Waste Items

The following items can be brought to the event for disposal:

Oil-based paints. Household batteries. Used motor oil. Paint thinners. Herbicides. Lawn chemicals. Insecticides. Solvents. Pesticides.
